LESSON 1

Doctrine (D-O-C-T-R-I-N-E-S) - tells us who God is, it tells us God's will, and it points us to our redemption from our sin nature.

The Two Kinds of Christian Doctrine: 1) Essential Christian Doctrine, is Doctrine that is essential to our salvation 2) non-essential Christian Doctrine, is doctrine that is not essential to our salvation.

"In Essentials Unity
In non-essentials liberty
and in all things charity."    this quote by Augustine, the father of modern theology is used in Christian Apologetics (defense) to guard and preserve Christian Doctrine.

ESSENTIAL CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE
D - Deity of Christ
O - Original Sin
C - Canon of Scripture
T - Trinity
R - Resurrection
I - Incarnation (of Jesus)
N - New Birth
E - Eschatology (return of Jesus and judgment of the world)
S - Salvation

NOTE: Study all the things on this page, and specifically memorize what the
first 3 letters (D-O-C) of the D-O-C-T-R-I-N-E acronym stand for. You will be given a simple
quiz within the next 3 or 4 days on things. I will want your answers and will let you know
if they were all correct or will tell you the correct answer if you missed one. Next Sunday,
lesson 2 will be posted on http://defendchrist.org.

In next Sunday's lesson (lesson 2), I will give a broad definition for each of the 3 categories (D-O-C). That will be lesson 2, and will be posted on Sunday, Nov. 24. Thanks, enjoy!
